The National League Division Series begins Tuesday, October 6, 2020, when the budding rivalry between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers head to Arlington for game one of their five game series. Los Angeles finished the regular season with a 43-17 record and won the NL West by six games over the 37-23 Padres. The Dodgers won the season series 6-4 in what was an exciting 10 games. Los Angeles is big -250 favorites, so you can get San Diego at +210 to advance. This game will air live on FS1 at 9:38 p.m. EST.

San Diego hosted a tough St. Louis Cardinals team in the NLWCS and bounced back from game one loss to win the series in three games. The Cardinals were impressive in game one and came away with a 7-4 win, but then blew a big game two lead and allowed San Diego to come back and win 11-9. San Diego had to pitch a bullpen game in the do or die game three and they completely shut down St. Louis, winning 4-0 to advance to the NLDS.

Los Angeles hosted a bad Milwaukee Brewers team in the NLWCS and easily swept them in two games. The Dodgers won game one 4-2 and game two 3-0. It was a nice way for the Dodgers to ease into the next round.

Below is my pick for the San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers. All odds are from Indiana Sportsbook.

San Diego Padres (+141) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (-153)

Pitching Matchup (Playoff Record): TBD vs Walker Buehler (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.25 WHIP)

The Padres have not announced a pitcher as of 11:00 a.m. EST, but rumors are circulating that Mike Clevinger could take the mound. It would be a surprise as most people expect Clevinger to potentially miss the entire postseason.

Walker Buehler took the hill in game one of the Dodgers NL Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers and was just OK in four innings of work. Buehler struck out eight Brewers but did allow three hits and two earned runs in his brief appearance. The Dodgers went on to win the game 4-2. Buehler made one start against the Padres during the regular season and he was not very sharp. In five innings he allowed three hits (all home runs), three earned runs, walked three, and struck out just three batters. Buehler received a no-decision, but San Diego got the 5-4 win.

MLB Predictions: The Los Angeles Dodgers get the game one win.
